Breaking Ground Impact Series: Jineth Bedoya

Jineth Bedoya’s case is the second in this series. It’s a landmark Inter-American Court ruling on violence against women journalists, brought with Media Defence’s intervention alongside FLIP and the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL). The judgment has catalysed concrete legal and institutional change in Colombia, including the “No es Hora de Callar” Fund and Centro, mandatory gender-focused training for public officials, and a national data-collection system on violence against journalists. It is now cited as precedent in landmark cases across Latin America.
