Yuri Marchenko joined Media Defence in 2023 as a Senior Legal Officer. Yuri is a lawyer with almost two decades of experience in human rights litigation, advocacy, and research. He worked at Validity Foundation in Budapest, the International Centre for the Legal Protection of Human Rights (INTERIGHTS) in London, and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in Warsaw, among others.
Media Defence is managed by a professional secretariat based in London.
The trustees believe board diversity is an imperative. They believe gender parity is a priority, alongside ethnic and geographic diversity, as well as the lived experiences of board members, with regard to the issues that Media Defence seeks to tackle.
The Board pledges to take the necessary measures to achieve this, and to support diverse participation.
