Media Defence dépose des conclusions écrites dans des affaires portées devant des tribunaux nationaux et internationaux dans le monde entier. Le rôle de la défense des médias peut prendre différentes formes : tiers intervenant, amicus curiae, expert en droit international, etc. L’objectif de ces observations est d’aider chaque juridiction à déterminer l’affaire dont elle est saisie dans des circonstances où la liberté de la presse est menacée. Les observations écrites offrent aux tribunaux des perspectives qui, nous l’espérons, mettront en évidence l’importance de l’application des principes internationaux et comparatifs de la liberté d’expression. Ils peuvent jouer un rôle important dans l’élaboration des normes juridiques en identifiant et en développant les développements juridiques, les meilleures pratiques internationales et les informations spécifiques qui n’ont pas été soulevées par les parties concernées.
