Modules on Online Violence against Journalists in Sub-Saharan Africa

Online violence against journalists are a significant factor in freedom of expression – it constitutions both a violation of individual rights to freedom of expression, the right to privacy, freedom from violence, but also results in a chilling effect on broader expression and access to information which affects broader society. In particular, there is growing appreciation of gender dimensions to these abuses, with women journalists often finding themselves the target of online violence.
This series of modules explores various aspects of online violence against women journalists, with a special focus on Sub-Saharan Africa.
