Lauren joined Media Defence in 2023 as Grants Officer and was promoted to Senior Grants Officer in 2024 and subsequently to Grants Manager in 2025. Prior to joining the organisation, she worked as the Development and Fundraising Officer for a Guatemalan NGO. Lauren has has a background in research, fundraising and grant management. She has previously worked as an intern at Amref Health Africa’s UK office, as well as several NGOs in Guatemala and Rwanda. Lauren holds an MA in Hispanic Studies and International Relations from the University of Aberdeen and an MA in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia. She speaks English and Spanish.
Media Defence is managed by a professional secretariat based in London.
The trustees believe board diversity is an imperative. They believe gender parity is a priority, alongside ethnic and geographic diversity, as well as the lived experiences of board members, with regard to the issues that Media Defence seeks to tackle.
