MLDI manual on litigating freedom of expression cases in East Africa

node leader

This manual is designed to assist lawyers representing journalists and bloggers at the regional level in East Africa. It therefore concentrates on setting out the processes and procedures for filing and arguing human rights cases before the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the East African Court of Justice.

The manual and training presentations are aimed at an audience of lawyers, with experience of litigation but not necessarily of litigation before regional human rights courts. The manual and presentations are provided under a creative commons license and are therefore free to share and adapt with appropriate credit. The materials can be used alongside "MLDI's manual on freedom of expression law" to assist with or train on litigating freedom of expression cases before regional human rights bodies in East Africa.
