Violence Against Journalists

Violence against journalists is increasing exponentially. Both online and offline, women journalists are particularly likely to become targets of violence. The aim of such attacks is often to intimidate and silence journalists, or to tarnish their professional credibility. In this context, states have both positive and negative obligations to protect journalists.

These modules assess the risks journalists are exposed to and outlines how they can be protected from violence and other serious and severe types of interference.
