international law.&nbsp; Article 12 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/EN\/UDHR\/Documents\/UDHR_Translations\/eng.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Universal Declaration of Human Rights<\/a> provides that: \u201cNo one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation.&nbsp; Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.\u201d[footnote]UN General Assembly, \u2018Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Resolution 217 A (III)\u2019 (1948) (accessible at: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/EN\/UDHR\/Documents\/UDHR_Translations\/eng.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/EN\/UDHR\/Documents\/UDHR_Translations\/eng.pdf<\/a>).[\/footnote] This is echoed in identical words in article 17 of the ICCPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, as indicated, a balance often needs to be found against offending statements which constitute an attack on a person\u2019s reputation and the justifiable
