Mark Stephens, CBE

Mark Stephens is head of media with the London-based law firm Finers Stephens Innocent.

He has specialized in media law and intellectual property for the past 27 years and has a multinational practice which has included some of the most high profile cases in this field. Mark's views on media law and freedom of expression are regularly sought in the media and law circles and he is a widely published writer in this area.

He chairs the board of governors of the University of East London and holds many other charitable, regulatory, government and academic appointments including for the Index on Censorship, the Lord Chancellor's Champions for the Community Legal Service, the Management Committee of the Programmme in Comparative Media Law and Policy in the University of Oxford's Centre for Socio Legal Studies, the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute and the Solicitors Pro Bono Group.
